MEREK
S. RUBIN
Merek
is the head of the Estate Planning Group at Rubin, Hay & Gould,
P.C. He is a tax attorney who concentrates his practice in wealth
preservation and business planning for high net-worth individuals
and families, business executives, entrepreneurs and owners of closely
held businesses, utilizing sophisticated estate planning and wealth
preservation techniques. Merek has more than 30 years of experience in tax
and estate planning.
Merek counsels family businesses and owners of significant real
estate holdings on issues of control, structure, succession and
intergenerational planning and implements sophisticated strategies
and techniques to minimize estate and gift taxes and to preserve
and protect clients’ assets, including limited partnerships,
limited liability companies, grantor trusts, self-settled trusts,
qualified personal residence trusts and other trust arrangements.
Merek
is the lead author of the five volume Generation Skipping and
Dynasty Trust Compendium (National Network Incorporated, 1998);
coauthor of Irrevocable Trust Compendium (National Network
Incorporated, 1997); contributing author of Legacy: Plan, Protect
& Preserve Your Estate (Esperti Peterson Institute, 1996)
and author of Beyond Livings Trusts: The Advantages of Qualified
Personal Residence Trusts (Small Business Advisory Group, 1995).
He is a nationally recognized authority on multi-generational tax
and estate planning and dynasty trust planning.
Merek
lectures attorneys, accountants, financial planners, insurance professionals
and the general public on estate planning and tax planning topics.
Merek was selected as a Massachusetts Super Lawyer in the November, 2004 issue of Boston Magazine. He was admitted to the Massachusetts Bar in 1967; the United States
District, District of Massachusetts in 1969; and the United States
Tax Court in 1973. He received his undergraduate degree (B.S.B.A.,
cum laude, 1964); his law degree (J.D., 1967) and his Master
of Laws in Taxation (L.L.M., 1971) from Boston University.
